Cool Old Truck

David Kline's

1946

Chevrolet 1/2-Ton Pickup

From David

I bought this truck about a year ago about 90 miles from my home.  It was in running condition so I drove it home. The top speed was 48 mph.

I have replaced the bumpers, speedometer cable, window channels, door lock springs, hoses, fan belt and had the radiator redone and new spindle bolts installed.  I have had other items redone also. The truck drives good on the road.  It has a 235 six cylinder engine and standard three speed transmission.  It sure does get the attention when I drive it around the area.

I still have things I would like to do such as putting a wood floor in the bed to replace a steel one and change the rear tail lights.  The interior was redone in black leather seats and black carpet and head liner.  The dash, doors and other metal parts are red.  It  lets you know that trucks were slower in 1946.  The wheels and tires are not standard but they look nice.  I may have to sell it because I will be losing my storage.
