More truck pictures of my old truck

From Devon :

I am very interested in cars and trucks built before WWII, regardless of who made them. Besides this 1942 Chevy, right now my Dad and I have a 1929 GMC 1.5-ton, a 1929 Studebaker, and most of a 1929 Ford model A. We also just bought a 1928 Pontiac. So far,  the only one in the collection that runs is the GMC.

I first noticed this old truck when it was sticking out of a snow drift on my neighbors farm yard. When I inquired about it, I was told that it was a 1942 Chevy ... but he wasn't sure what he was going to do with it yet.

About a week had passed, and he called me and asked if I would come give him a hand with his tractor. After that was fixed, he asked if I was still interested in the truck. I told him I was, and he said that I could have it if I could make it run again. Although it's not yet running, I must have gained his confidence, as the truck is now mine.

Digging it out, was quite a chore. I was told that it had sat in the same spot for 21 years.

For this truck I plan to do a complete restoration and make it look and run as good as it did the day it rolled out of the factory floor. I personally think this is a beautiful truck and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I am also in the process of trying to buy a 1942 half ton (minus the motor and transmission) as those are going to be donors for the guy who currently owns it. That one just might get my rebuilt 350 that I have been saving to use in a future project.

A little bit about myself. I am 24 years old. I am employed by a local short line railroad as the shop lead, and work as a heavy duty mechanic. I work on ALCo locomotives built in 1974. Formerly a Ford guy, the GMC's and Chevy's have won me over.

If there are any upcoming truck shows for the "Bolters" in Alberta or Manitoba, I would be more then happy to bring out my '29 GMC. As for now, I am unsure about showing it in the states, at least until I can figure out the whole customs thing.
