From Jake :

I am submitting some pics of my 1967 C-50. The truck was given to me from my Grandfather.

I learned how to drive stick in that truck. That blue beast was my baby. But one day the truck decided to to try and kill me.

On February 10, 2008, I was going down my Grandfather's steep driveway at the farm and the brakes went out. I tried to gear it down and stop but the tranny was worn out and I had picked up too much speed by then. I opened the door to try and jump out but I got scared and sat back down.

As I neared the road, I tried to turn to the right to get on the road to coast to a stop. When I did that, I was ejected out of the door and skipped across the road and landed in a ditch.

The truck started flipping and it rolled over me and stopped on its tires. I was nearly split in half. I had a crushed pelvis, broken femur, broken tailbone. My spine was detached, my bladder ruptured, my intestines were damaged and I had a crushed testicle. I was flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. I died on the ride to the hospital and was revived. Then I died again on the operating table.

I have been in the hospital for nine months now. I am nearly healed up, but I will never be able to walk again. The truck was sold for scrap the next day. I got $600 for it.

My medical bills are now around $12,000,000. I have had 72 surgeries and 126 pints of blood. The strange thing is that I want to buy my truck back. I must be crazy.

Here's one final look at the truck.

Jake, you are not crazy. You are not a quitter and it's that kind of determination that's going to pull you through. ~ Editor
