From Jerry Brackett:

Here is a picture of the '53 3100 I brought home from eastern Washington last weekend. I am submitting it for my brother-in-law Phil Aiken.

I found this truck in a farmer's field last August. I told my brother-in-law, who was visiting from the east coast, about it. We drove back out the next morning and talked to the farmer. The truck had been setting there since 1980 and has only 41,000 original miles.

Phil bought it for $1200 and we towed it back to town that afternoon. After about 10 or 15 minutes of tinkering, we got it running. Everything works right down to the gas gauge and lights.

It had a fresh tune up and almost new tires. It needs only breaks and a water pump to be road ready. However, I will be doing a complete restoration on it. I plan to strip it to the frame and do every thing to make like new again.

After visiting with the farmer for a while, it turned out his wife is a good friend of my mother-in-law. So by the time we got back to the house, our wives knew we had found more trouble to get into!
