We don't promise a plan for helping the dismal state of global affairs, but we do have a bi-partisan, sure-fire plan to bail you out of any depression you'll have following the elections, fuel prices, weather turmoil, economic disaster ... or just the winter (summer for you Bolters in Oz) doldrums this year -- our annual photo contest !! It's the same fun year after year!
We're sure our prize donors will line up to ensure this year could be the best ever. All you have to do is pick through those shots you've taken all year while out old tin hunting and send in your two best ones! Be sure to identify which category each of your submissions is to be judged in. And the best part?? Those stinkin' Wall Street crooks won't get one stinkin' dime!!
All contests have a few rules. Here are ours for 2008. It's pretty much like last year's contest, with only two additions.
Here are the rules:
- Each individual can submit two entries
- All submissions MUST be the original work of the submitter. Plain and simple, any image you submit must be your own work. Copying/scanning someone else's work (out of a magazine or a calendar) is cheating and lying. We are better than that. So don't go surfing the 'Net for a cool picture ... you need to go surfing the turf!
- Well composed, high resolution digital images win. Low-rez, poorly composed shots don't. Don't just point and shoot, fer cryin' out loud! This is a photo contest -- Duh! People who know how to take a good picture stand a better chance of winning.
- Caption your photos. Give each of your submissions a caption or title (limit 20 words). If you have a brief interesting story to go with it, feel free to include it also.
Select which category each submission is to be judged in! (If you have two submissions, they don't have to be the same category.)
- Send your submission to us via email in jpg format. We won't do any cropping (except as necessary for the calendar print).
Or snail mail it to: The Stovebolt Page,
41370 Friendship Court, Mechanicsville, MD 20659-3853
- Include your name, address, phone number and Stovebolt
log-in name (if you have one)
- If you submit an image to Stovebolt.com for the IRWIPI contest, you agree to let us use it for whatever we want (calendars, web site promotion, etc.). We're not asking you to surrender all rights to it, we just want to be able to use it for our purposes. You can still use it for whatever *you* want, too, as long as it does not limit our use of the image.
- All rules and guidelines are subject to change at a whim or moment's notice.

- Have fun -- That's what this really about. All that guff above is just to cover our keisters.
Prizes:
- Overall -- First Place, Second Place, Honorable Mention and Peoples' Choice recognition may be awarded, depending upon submissions.
- By Category -- First Place recognition will be awarded in each of the 8 categories, other awardees may be identified depending upon submissions.
