The new cab.
I wonder when they will get the price in a more workable range?
I could have got the last OEM task force cab in existance, back in the early 70's for $1500. from the chev dealer, did I goof up or what?

I would have to buy an entire truck for that price... sheesh.

Average domestic new car price in 1972 = $3000 to $4000
Average domestic new car price in 2012 = about $30,000
8x-10x increase

1972 OEM cab = $1500
2012 Dynacorn cab = $9000

Do the math - maybe you were better off waiting and not storing that 1972 cab?

$3000 and $30,000 yeah but hows that compair to wage?

3.5k / 4.24 perhour starting Boeing wage in 1972 = 825

30K/ 20 perhour higher than a Boeing starting wage 2012 = 1500

Yeah that car now cost amost twice as much per a wage in the older days.
And a better number for a normal journeyman Boeing wage in 72 is
$7.50 per hour
3.5k /7.5 perhour = 466
1500/466 = 3.21
So in reality that 2012 car at 30k is 3 times what it would cost you in 1972. I had $10k in the bank in 1972, I could have swung it no problem. The problem is all the new cars and trucks are way over priced, and are not worth it at all.
Oh and note I'm using in between your
3000 and 4000 that is 3500 or 3.5k.

Gosh, this moved into the area of low wage growth.

The original comment seemed to be about whether it might have made sense to buy that cab back then, and hold it for use now. I'd say that you did not goof by not buying that cab back then (for use now).
