My trucks smoking a little under the hood around the exhaust manifold, well i think anyway cuz on the 250 the intake and exhaust are on the same side, but its smoking a little under the hood and from the best i could tell thats where its coming from. Also it puts some smoke out the tail pipe. Where should i start here?

Probably the valve cover gasket is leaking & the oil is running down to the manifolds.

It may be blow by. Does smoke come out the breather cap when it is running?

No it doesn't have any blow by. When I replaced the valve cover with a chrome one i have to bend it to fit right and it bent the a lip out in the backside and it was leaking out well I removed it and straightened it out and put a new cork gasket on and ran the truck and it's still smoking

Is this sudden, like since you replaced the valve cover & gasket?

Sounds like you have an exhaust leak at the manafold. If so it should be making some hissing noise. Also sounds like you either have a valve seal problem or rings. You claim no blow-by but are you sure? Take the breather out of the valve cover and give it a few revs. If you get a lot of smoke coming out the valve cover it's time to replace the seals. Did you do a compression test on the engine?
