try the VIN buster or one of the other articles listed .... assuming you have the actual ID-plate number and not the engine number, which is mostly what was used on the registration back then

Where did you find what you are calling the VIN? There is a vehicle ID (vehicle serial number) that is on a plate on the door post and an engine serial number. Either code might have been uses a title/registration VIN.
