In a USA Chevrolet, the engine was most likely a 216 or a 235 (first year for the 235 engine).

Are there any other codes/numbers on the head and block? Did you find the code (in your post) pressed into the ledge/boss to the rear of where the distributor enters the block?

Tim

I get the impression that some of the engines were made in Canada. I would take the head and block casting numbers and do a google search. This may bring up the site with all the Canadian engine details. There are a lot of engines listed that were shipped to your country.
