Hi everyone...

Here is my 1960 Chevy C10:
http://rides.webshots.com/album/570061185LmBBDA?vhost=rides

I bought this truck from South Carolina in 2001, right at the border of North Carolina. I won her off of eBay with only a few pictures. She looked straight in the pictures without major rust. Rust is all you see in old trucks here on Long Island. Being surrounded by sea water and the salted roads in the winter causes all kinds of problems here!

I flew down to my folks in NC, drove 1.5 hours to buy her. I drove her to their house, picked up a U-haul the following day and trailered her 11 hours up to Long Island.

She is completely original except for her paint, tires etc. I painter her to get her out of the grey primer she was dressed with. It took me a few years to find the original hood as the original owner (I bought her from the nephew of the original owner) exchanged the hood for a 63-66 model. I also replaced the bed since it was rotted.

She is a little tired now. I need to rebuild the transmission since I lost the sink in 3rd. So the only sink I have is in 2nd! The engine is giving me problems at 110,000 miles (I have a post up for this). Since this is 1 of 3 trucks, I hope I can find the time to work on her.

The one think I need to do is give her a name. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks to everyone at this site for helping me keep her alive!

Thanks... Russ

Russ - Looks good. How did you finish the bed wood? I have been tracking a few different threads on different options. Looks like you have something I would be interested in learning more about?

Hey Hamiatjax...

I sanded the wood, primed and painted it with the same high gloss Rust-Oleum Black as the insides of the bed. Not the spray can type though. I had a gallon for various other paint jobs. I used a roller and brush. The idea was to paint the entire board, front back and sides and those little washer inlays.

Since the bed rails keep everything off the wood, I figured there wouldn't be any chipping. I have more chips/scratches on the bed sides and none on the wood so I think I did something right.

Hope this helps.
..Russ

Nice ride! We also have a 1960 C10.

Ebony would be a nice name for black truck as Ebony means black.

Thanks Acipmunk... I thought of "Blackie" but I feel that might offend some people so I would rather not.

I did not think of Ebony... Thanks Pami, I like that name! I will try that for a while to see if it sticks.
