Check out the forums at autobodystore.com. They really go into a lot of detail on equipment and technique. Len, the proprietor, is especially helpful.

on my 57, i used a 3 inch dropped axle, and removed only 1 leaf, so i only had to cut my drag link and remove 1.250 out of it.
i slid a piece of pipe onto the drag link, pushed it to one side, tig welded the two pieces of drag link

I have no idea how to test such a thing. It's a sealed unit with no signs of deterioration so I'm going on faith that it worked before the seal went south.

you cant erase a CD. It is laser etched data. However you can always throw one away and burn another as they are about $0.30 each ($29.95 for 100)

A gallon of gas in Mexico is about $2.80. You won't find any Phillip 66 or Citgo stations over there. Read Pemex. I'ld go over tah fillup but a big chance on getting shot or kidnapped, the boarder inspectors on both sides are a$$holes now a days too.
