Michael Lawrence's1936 1/2-ton Chevy Low Cab |
"Ol' Millie" |
12 August 04
From Sarge:
I finally acquired this 1936 1/2-ton low cab through
a gentleman who knew the original owner and had been trying to get him to sell
it for many years. The original owner is now in his 90's and finally agreed
to sell. I bought it before the bill of sale was cold and am now the actual
second owner of the truck.
It was built in Oakland and
first sold up in the dry, eastern area of Oregon. There it remained until my
purchase earlier this year.
It is all original minus the front bumper, and wood in the bed and is missing engine and seat. The original engine was gone, but I have another 207 ready for service soon. I am restoring Mildred ... or Ol' Millie as we call her, to factory specs. Probably back to Brewster green and black. I have new white walls on it from the purchase of some clean artillary rims, but will not have them on there in the end.
Things that I need to find are the seat frames, bumpers, and tail light bracket, and a crank would be nice.
Good luck to all my fellow Stovebolters out there. I was just at Hot August Nights 04 and saw one 1938 pickup driving away, but that was IT for the 30's Chevy's pickups.
Semper Fi,
Sarge
