1941 Chevy 1 1/2-Ton Stakebed

           I had been looking on the Stovebolt site and browsing eBay for awhile and couldn’t find anything close enough to go and get and still have enough money to buy the truck. Everything I saw would cost more to ship than the actual vehicle was selling for.

           Well, I actually found this 1941 1.5-ton stakebed on Craigslist for $600. The guy I bought it from was, as he called it, a “scrapper” from Kansas City, Missouri. He collects metal and sells it for scrap. He came across my truck in a warehouse / barn that was being torn down for nothing more than the material it was. He felt my truck was in too good of shape to just send her to the crusher. [ Side view with door lettering ]

           All I know about the truck's past is it was used (and abused) on a farm from her original purchase until it was parked sometime in the mid-80’s. At least that is what the farmer who was scrapping out the warehouse / barn told the guy I bought it from. [ Passenger side view ]

           I plan to do a frame up restoration and do a little custom work. When I am done, it will be my daily driver and I will be able to haul my wife’s horses to and from shows. We hope to do some traveling and pull the fifth wheel around the country, as well. [ Front view with the big grille ]

           My time frame for getting the truck up and running is two years. I will have a lot of help from my Father who owns an auto mechanic shop called KarKare. It's located here in Oklahoma City . My Brother-in-law will be my body and paint man. I could do it all on my own, but with family to help out, I know we can get the job done a lot faster.
