From Chris:

Hey out there. Here are a couple of photos of my 1942 Chevy Suburban that I just purchased.

The story goes that it was one of 2000 built at the Tarrytown NY plant, sent to a storage area up near West Point and slated to be shipped overseas for use as an ambulance. Fortunately, a supply Sergeant got in over his head in a card game with a couple of local boys and only 1999 trucks went over in that shipment. This one saw us as an ambulance in a small upstate town and was later bought and the butchery began.

When I bought it, it had been re-powered with a 305 Chevy with an a.t. It hadn't run in 19 years when I bought it. I have been working on it little by little. I did get it running and believe it or not, it runs pretty good. However, it is going to get a 350 crate motor.

I am missing things like mirrors (I am told it was a blackout model and never had them), emergency brake set up, dash gauges, door gaskets.

The body is actually in great shape and I look forward to making a daily driver out of her. Anyone that can offer any insight on this project can email me.

Thanks for the great site. I came across your site when I was looking for parts.
