Hey guys! This is my latest 'Bolt addition - a 1966 Chevy C-10 long Stepside, 4 x 2, with a 250 six, three on the tree, and a heater -- that is about all it has!
The truck came from El Reno, Oklahoma, where I traded a guy my 1965 Ford F250 pickup straight up for it. The Ford ran, but had no brakes. The Chevy runs and stops, but does not have the good body that the Ford had. It has a set of aluminum wheels with rotten tires on them - these wheels are going to be the first things to go! I'm going back with a set of stock steelies with baby moon caps, and a set of 235-75R15 radials to get it going again.
Under the hood is an interesting mess! There is some, shall I say, "creative wiring" going on. It is a mess that will be taken care of before the truck rolls past the end of the driveway!
The truck has an HEI distributor, and the engine runs smooth and quiet. I found a chrome 250 valve cover, and since the underhood area needs to be cleaned up anyway, it'll get it installed after the wiring issues are fixed and I clean and paint the engine. I hate a dirty engine compartment!
It has its share of rust, especially in the rockers, outer floors, and the lower front fenders. The bed wood is nearly new! I plan to paint the truck in tractor gray enamel with a white top and argent silver grille, along with the red painted stock wheels. Sort of a "rat rod" look.
It'll never be a restored rig as long as I own it -- just a fun truck I can drive when I need the services of a dependable beater! I'll probably put a decent stereo in it and hook up the CB radio that came with the pickup. Toss an Indian blanket seat cover on the late-model seat. Replace the windshield and the door glasses, which are cracked and / or scratched to smithereens! Take that big, ugly step bumper off the rear and come up with something better, like a stock non-HD bumper, or maybe the tube bumper I've got sitting in the shop!
So, here it is - my first 'Bolt in over two years! Looked all over for a truck that someone would trade for my old Ford, and I finally found someone to deal with that was local, to boot!
Now you guys can give me a little less grief for having just Dodges for the last two years!!!
