From Ben :

I have a 1960 Chevy Apache 10. My friend Eric Radack has a 1954 Chevy 5 window (his truck is in the Gallery). I've loved his truck ever since he got it, and I always wanted to get myself a classic truck. I watched his truck go through the full restoration. During the time we were both serving LDS missions, we constantly sent letters back and forth on getting me a truck and doing my own restoration.

I've been back from the mission field for a little over a year. I have been putting most of my money and time into drifting in my 2000 Miata, and getting ready to go visit Spain again this year.

The day I found this truck on a local site, we were searching and just talking dreamily about getting me a truck. I straight up told Eric I didn't want to spend more than $400 on the truck.

An hour later, I had a couple phone numbers to some old cars, including this one to a supposed 1961 Chevy pickup in a little town called Levan, Utah. I called the guy the next day (Sunday). I paid him for the truck on Monday, picked it up on Tuesday, and dropped it on the side of my house on Wednesday.

I never thought I'd actually get one. This was just one of my wilder dreams come true. Now I'm having a hard time keeping my dreams within my wallet. I will have a hard time making it through the next couple years. But they'll be good years, well worth it.

I'll be heading back down that way as there were many 1960's trucks around Nephi, Utah. I will hopefully get some decently priced parts.

The main things my truck needs are: a bed, both fenders, passenger door, and interior / exterior work, and mechanical work. Luckily, it was running only four years ago so I probably won't have too much of a problem getting it going. Here's a view from the rear.

I do a lot of thinking about my truck when I'm at work especially what it'll take to get it running. So, it is constantly on my mind. Eric lives just down the street from me, so he'll be able to hop over and help me whenever he can / wants to help.

I'll keep you updated as things happen.

Nothing like having a "Bolt Buddy" ... just makes things better. You two enjoy and hope you get it running soon. Look forward to updates! ~ Editor
