From Joe :

Hey Gang! This is my latest investment ... a 1946 Chevy 3/4-ton pickup. I bought it a couple of years ago from an estate and it has since been stored in my Grandparents' barn in northern Indiana. I have finally found the time (and bought the trailer) to pick it up and bring it back home to Kentucky to start restoration work.

The truck is mostly original with the exception of the bed which looks to be the same vintage -- but is from a GMC. The name on the side is Andy Molenaar from Rensselaer, IN. Must have been a past owner, but I don't have any history on it.

The truck has the original 216 with a 3-speed. I am planning on keeping it pretty much the same, but making it mechanically sound, meaning replacing all of the brake components and going over the engine. Should be loads of fun.

As you can see, I used my '72 Chevy to pull it. She worked well under the load. Pulled her down I-65 approximately 250 miles keeping up with traffic fairly easily.

           Now I have three good ol' trucks ... the '46 3/4-ton, a '68 3/4-ton, and a '72 1/2-ton. Love them all.

If anybody has the history on this truck or knew the Andy that wrote his name on the side of it, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for this awesome website. Keep up the good work!

Joe has some other trucks listed in the Gallery that he has since sold ... but they are still nice to see ... a 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Stepside and a 1946 Chevy 1.5 / 2 - Ton Tandem Axle. ~~ Editor
