From Steve:

One day I was talking to a contractor I had worked with about an old truck I bought and that I found his registration in. He told me to come by his business and look at an old Chevy truck he had out there that he wanted to get rid of. He had taken it in exchange for a bill that didn’t get paid. He told me if I gave him $50 for it, I could take it out of there with the signed title. It was a 1951 1.5-ton truck with a hoist and flatbed was now mine. (It is for sale by the way.)

I figured I would be doing all right with that deal but I had to take all the crap that was on the truck too. Some animal had made a home in the cab and crapped all over inside and on the seat. The tires all held air and I dragged it home. I had a pickup load of “crap” to take to the dump because of the junk in the truck. The seat was out of a later model car but I didn’t want anything to do with it after the animal had its way with it.

The gas still smelled unvarnished. So I dumped a couple gallons of fresh gas in it and decided to get it running. I pulled the distributor cap and a couple of plugs. Apparently, they were all new before the truck was taken from the previous owner. The engine was nice and clean. The truck started right up! I added brake fluid and the brakes pumped up and released just fine.

I drove it around a little and thought I did pretty good on this deal.
