A Cool Old Truck

Paul Toth's

1965 Chevrolet C-10 Fleetside

01 January 03

From Paul

You have one great website. My wife and I spend hours viewing more than just one night a week.

My dad and I rebuilt and reworked many '49 thru '54 Chevy pickups over 40 years ago and I am digging into my memory for past knowledge to use on my newfound love of the '62 thru '66 Chevy trucks. The pictures enclosed of my practice '65. The fender emblems are '64 because I like the position and the emblem better with the custom side trim.

There was a big influence on the outcome of this truck because of your website. I was going to paint it red until I saw "Tom's 1966 Chevrolet C 10." One look and my wife and I knew it had to be blue. The autobody supply store in Jasper doesn't carry DuPont paint, but we came up with Valspar 327L156 Light Blue acrylic enamel which kept a constant color with the truck being painted in sections. The Victory Red (91 Silverado color) that I had already had mixed will go on another 1965 fleetside, my next project.

This blue truck will keep the inline 6 with the three-speed stick on the column because the red one to be is already a 400/400, both units I will rebuilt first before body work and paint. I'll send pictures when I finish - in about a year.

Love your site. We'll be watching you.

Sincerely,
Paul Toth
