    Thought you might enjoy the picture of the ambulance pulling a vintage trialer. The ambulance is a 1950 Chevrolet ambulance with body by "National Body Manufacturing. Co." of Knightstown, Indiana . It is basically a Chevy panel delivery stretched 30 inches, and was sold as a combination hearse and ambulance!

    It is very complete and original and came from a funeral parlor in Texas. The combination hearse and ambulance cost $2250.00 when new! The photo is from our truck tour last summer.

      Here are some photos of my recently purchased 1950 Chevrolet National Ambulance for The Stovebolt Page.

      Guess where I found this quite rare Chevrolet ambulance? Ebay! It is a 1950 Chevrolet made in Knightstown, Indiana by National Body Company with a 33" stretched section in the body. Originally from Hereford, Texas and now with me here in Hartland, Vermont. It is a "combo" hearse / ambulance with a 216 six cylinder with standard shift and is quite complete and original. The original interior is very presentable and the body is "Texas dry" and unrusted.

      It was last owned by the Hereford American Legion Post, hence the nifty rear "parade platform" on back.

      I have already redone the brakes and will have it registered and on the road again soon in Vermont in time for the spring vintage truck tours and early shows.

      John, nice photo of your Belgians. I have owned Belgians, too (Dan - 2340 lbs and Don 2460 lbs) but find that vintage trucks are less in need of barn cleaning during the cold Vermont winter months!
