From Bill Jesse :

Hi all. A new '51 1/2-ton 'Bolt in Victoria belongs to Ken Coombes. He is not yet a forum member.

I brought the truck across from the mainland about three years ago. It was literally barn-fresh. Could not figure why it really pulled to one side badly when I braked until I pulled the brakes apart and found no shoes on one side! Redid the brakes, shocks, new windshields and exhaust, powder coated the wheels and put on radial tires. Then it sat un-touched for two years! Finally, he decided it was time to crank her but that old gas ruined the tank, carb and fuel pump. So we put on a new carb, cleaned the tank and last weekend put on a new fuel pump.

The photo was taken on its maiden voyage, still dirty especially the tires. Water pump is now leaking so I'll be doing that this weekend.

After that photo, we took it down to the funeral chapel where I work part time and washed and dressed the tires. It looks so much better. There is still a lot of work to be done on it -- mainly cosmetic. Of course, it all involves money. Maybe Ken will sell his Mercedes roadster (it was actually a toss-up between that and the truck - until I convinced him!) and gets some play money.

Bill Jesse has been with us a long time. One of his trucks, a 1953 Chevy 5-window 1/2-Ton, "Miss Blu," has been passed on to a nice building contractor. But he's still got "Ol' Blu," his 1949 Chevrolet 1/2-Ton. Looks like Bill's found plenty to still keep him busy! ~~ Editor
